Agreed on the problem of censorship. Thanks for the response. It helps to know you wrote this prior to the recent ruling.

Thank you, D.Eris.

Actually, I did take note of your excerpts and responded to your question about Luther's theology.

Hey Brandon,

I do not know of any work on campaign finance reform's effect on racial minorities and the poor. I doubt if there is any. I wrote these posts way before the supreme court ruling, but my conclusion with the references to Moltmann were typed up this week.

I do not think that the market is entirely the problem. In fact, a lot the problem has to do with election regulations that prevent third parties from getting on the ballot as well as the media, the prevents third party candidates from debate, even public television stations. Free speech is not the problem, it is the censorship of it by the media and electoral regulators.

Hey Rod,

I am assuming that you are referring to the Supreme Court's recent ruling on campaign finance. If that is correct, could you point me to some readings and analysis that speak to the potential gains you mention for third parties and ethnic minorities? The way I have interpreted the ruling, as well as the articles I have read on it, presumes that this will actually squeeze out the speech of those on the margins because they lack the capital to compete with corporations that will most likely fund the status quo, two-party system. I am intrigued by your take.
