When it comes to Jews and Muslims, the Swiss are not so neutral

I would like to thank gracious God for the First Amendment. Freedom of speech, religion, of the press, and to assemble.

Some disturbing news from that neutral country of Switzerland.

First, Sunday, a ban was passed throughout all cantons, by majority vote, that would disallow minarets to be placed on top of mosques.  Where are the fighters of religious freedom on this issue?

And even scarier, the campaign posters have large racial overtones, affirming my commentary on BLACK FRIDAY.

And now, emboldened by Sunday’s vote, another Swiss political party is promoting a ban on
the separate cemeteries that Jews and Muslims currently have.

Xenophobia. Hysteria. Racism. Orientalism. Anti-semitism. All driving forces in public policy debates in Switzerland.

I sense history repeating itself.

  1. Joel says:

Amen to that, Rodney. How odd that they remain neutral when Hitler is killing Jews but, oh, wait, maybe they weren’t really that neutral, were they?

  2. irishanglican says:

It is a known fact that like Roman Catholics, these different groups only want to be buried in ground that they feel is common to them. Again for Roman Catholics, this is called sacred ground, etc.

  3. Joel says:

    Could Catholics be next?

  4. Switzerland IS catholic, in some of the cantons.
